CONIFER was established by Scott McGregor, a former infrastructure investor with a passion for the essential yet frequently underappreciated businesses that are critical for the seamless functioning of our everyday lives.From an early age Scott was captivated by the challenge and excitement of running a business, honing his leadership and entrepreneurial skills by helping to build a landscaping company in his native Toronto, Canada while still in high school.After graduating with a degree from Ontario’s Richard Ivey School of Business, Scott moved to the UK to start his professional career at Credit Suisse in London. In 2012 he joined Allianz Capital Partners (ACP), the direct investment arm of leading global insurance company and asset manager the Allianz Group.Over his 10-year tenure at ACP Scott assessed dozens of businesses across several infrastructure sub-sectors and alongside his team successfully invested EUR 4 billion into 10 energy, utility and telecommunications companies.Re-igniting his passion for working within businesses, Scott founded CONIFER to partner with the UK’s leading entrepreneurs and help them transition their organisations into their next stage of growth.In his spare time, Scott enjoys spending time outdoors cycling, walking in the park, or (eagerly) trying to improve his golf game. Scott is also a mentor with ReachOut, a national mentoring and education charity working in under-resourced boroughs in London, Manchester, Liverpool and Yorkshire to support young people to grow in character and confidence.
